For former Emperor vocalist/guitarist Ihsahn, The Adversary allowed the revered musician the opportunity for his most challenging project yet - a solo album. The first in an initial trilogy of recordings (with a new concept and album to be unleashed in early 2012), the album was highly acclaimed and embraced by fans and critics. Revolver Magazine noted it to be, “brimming with classical, goth, prog, and eighties-metal passages.” Decibel Magazine said, “as compelling as Emperor’s best; Ihsahn sounds as fresh as he did 15 years ago, but with the hindsight of a grown man.”
